As far as designing and building the website are concerned there are also various options.
Starting out, most people have me do the graphics for their website. I do a good job but it
usually looks very "websiteish". I include the cost of design into the development of the
website itself.
As your traffic grows, your website becomes more integrated into your overal 'vision', and your
needs become more clear, a more “graphically intense” website may be needed. I have several
artists that I work with for high-end design, marketing, and branding.
Of course if cost isn't an issue, I'm happy to bring in a few designers to "pitch" designs to
you immediatly.
I provide various levels of support for management and maintenance of your website. I am
also very competitive on my maintenance rates.
Monthly Maintenance Program:
For websites that I develop, people typically have me handle website maintenance. They are
usually to busy, don't care to deal with it, or don't know enough about programming to
handle it.
My most popular package allows my clients to purchase 4 hour blocks of time for a fixed amount
each month. The hours in the block are billed at a 55% savings over my regular hourly rate.
Any hour utilized over the base 4 hours is then charged at a 27% savings over my regular hourly
rate.
Also, this is a "use it or loose it" plan. Any unused time does not roll-over to the next month.
This maintenance program also includes your hosting and free support for server issues (if
hosted with me).
Hosting Only:
Once I have completed the development of a website, my client's have the option of maintaining
it themselves. However, I can still host it for them at a reduced monthly rate.
On this plan, any issues that I troubleshoot for the website are billable at a 27% savings over
my regular hourly rates. If an issue is determined to be a hardware, network, or server issue
then no charge is passed on to the client.
Hourly Support:
I am happy to manage and maintain any website, even one that I didn't design, build, or host.
Clients may still purchase 4 hour blocks of maintenance time at a 10% savings over my regular
hourly rate. These time blocks work exactly like the ones described above in the "Monthly
Maintenance Program".
Of course I'm happy to handle any website at my regular hourly rate on an "as-needed" basis.
Most people find that my regular hourly rates are much lower than my competitions. This plan
typically works best for clients whos websites don't change or need updating very often.
There are steps that I follow when starting a new project :
|
|
Gather Requirements
I meet with the client to get a good understanding of their specific requirements.
|
|
|
Determine Design
Images of what the website will look like are created and sent to the client for approval.
|
|
|
Create Prototype
A prototype of the website is created providing the look, feel, and flow of the website.
|
|
|
Complete Code
This is where the actual website code is written and the website's content is solidified.
|
|
|
Testing
The client tests the website online.
|
|
|
Delivery
I "push" the website live to the general public.
